RechenRallye is a serious game in the 2D Side-Scroller style. The game is aimed at young players and gradeschoolers to help teach simple mathematics and improve their cognitive abilities in a fun and engaging form.
This solo project was developed in order to receive the “Bachelor of Arts: Game Design & Management” Degree at the Hochschule Fresenius in Wiesbaden Germany. In the current stage of development, I am aiming to create a fun and engaging protype. In the near future I hopefully will be able to finish and publish the game.
The game features randomly generated math problems on three different difficulty levels. Additionally the difficulty of the levels themselves can be changed, giving the player a total of 9 different combinations of difficulty. This is done in order to give every player an appropriate challenge no matter their skill level.
The players skill and improvements can be measured through built in statistics. Here the game displays the needed time for a player to defeat an enemy. Giving an insight into the players strengths and weaknesses regarding their mathematical skills.
